Due to the recommendation of his brother living there, he got a job in Pesmen Rubin Art Studio, where he started making advertisements for newspapers, magazines and movie theaters. While there he met cartoonist Ub Iwerks. Both were artists. Hence, together they started the 'Dinsey Iwerks Commercial Artist Company' in 120. One of his clients of 'Laugh-O-Grams' liked his film 'Alice in Wonderland' and offered Disney to make some other films with an offer of $ 1500 for that film. This was a golden opportunity for Disney, but it was not possible to produce multiple films simultaneously in a small garage. He sought help from his brother Roy, and together they established Walt Disney Studio on October 14, 1923.
Disney formed its own team after the founding of 'Walt Disney Studio', which included live action star Virginia Virginia from Ub Iwerks and Alice in Wonderland. Disney also hired Ink and Paint Artist 'Lillian Bounds', which they later married. Work was started on the Alice Comedy Series by preparing the team. Universal company stole rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
In 1927 Margaret Winkler married Charles Mints. After marriage, the distribution company came under the control of Charles Mints. He gave Disney a contract to distribute through a new animated series 'Universal Picture', for which a new cartoon character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, was created. Its drawing was made by Ub Iwerks. Disney received a $ 1500 contract per shot for this animated series. The animated series received quick success and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit became a household name. After this success, Disney expanded its studio and hired a few other artists from Kansas City.
In order to capitalize on the success of its cartoon character, Disney met Charles Mints in New York in February 1927, in which he demanded a higher amount per shot for 'Oswald the Lucky Rabbit'. But Charles Mints turned down his demand and asked him to reduce the production budget, otherwise he would open another company. Disney was surprised to learn that he was told that all rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit were with the Universal Company and that all the artists hired by Disney were also with the company. Disney felt betrayed by Charles Mints and Margaret Winkler for stealing the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the move of their company to Universal Company. His company also went into loss.
Mickey mouse cartoon character born
Disney now needed a new cartoon character for its company. Ub Iwerks was still with him. He refused to go to Universal Company. The two created the new character Mickey Mouse, in which the first short film 'Plane Crazy' and the second 'The Gallopin' Gaucho 'were made in 1926. Mickey Mouse was a large rat-shaped cartoon, distributors feared that women would rate it and that no distributor agreed to distribute Disney's films.
Instead of being disappointed, Disney made its third film, "Steamboat Willie", with Mickey Mouse, in which he lent his voice to Mickey Mouse. A businessman named Pat Power distributed this film.
